MARGAO: Railway Protection Force (RPF) team led by Vinod Mishra Inspector RPF Margao, arrested accused persons who laced chocolates and soft drinks with sleeping pills and give offered to unsuspecting train passengers by befriending and looting their valuables.
Mo Sartaj, 29, Chandan Kumar, 23 and Dara Kumar, 29 years all natives of Bihar were arrested by the Railway Police.
Sources in the RPF disclosed that on September 12, drugging was reported in train 12779 Vasco Nizamuddin Express where eight passengers were drugged and looted . The case was registered at Belgaum police station and transferred to Vasco Railway police.
Similarly a drugging case was reported in Konkan Kanya express on September 20 and case registered at Mumbai GRP to be transferred to Konkan railway police, Margao .
To detect the cases, a team of RPF, Margao KRCL, RPF C&I Margao and Vasco SWR led by Vinod Mishra Inspector RPF Margao was deployed.
The team analysed the complainants description of criminals and also analysed CCTV footages of various railway stations.
Thereafter a close watch was kept in various trains and stations by RPF staff in civil dress. On September 25, RPF Margao detained three criminals at the Margao Railway station.
The accused were temporarily residing in Ponda.
