PANJIM: Traders earning their livelihood through tourism activities will have to shell out Rs 1 lakh penalty, if they fail to register or renew their licences with the Tourism Department before June 30.
The Department issued this advisory on Thursday by way of a public notice. As per the provisions under Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, every person carrying out businesses of hotel-keeper, other accommodation besides the travel agents, tour operators, motor boat, launch, water sports operators, dealers in handicrafts, tourist guides, photographers, government shack operators, private shack operators and those involved in private huts, deck beds and umbrellas, adventure sports have to get themselves registered with the department and get their renewal time to time. Spice Plantations and Online Service Providers etc have to also register their activities with the Department of Tourism and if already registered, they have to apply for renewal within 3 months of the beginning of new financial year.
“The renewal of registration has to be done within a period of 3 months from the beginning of the financial year, that is June 30 of the respective year,” states the public notice.
