PANJIM: The Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) has imposed a penalty of Rs 100 per day upon the board of directors of the Olimpia Co-operative Housing Society Limited, Kerant-Caranzalem for not enrolling one Ronnie D’Souza as member of the Society.
The judgement was delivered by the Assistant RCS P S Sawant on October 20 last year and till date the Society’s board of directors have not paid the penalty.
Sawant in his order had imposed penalty of Rs 100 per day upon every member of the board of directors of the Society in proportion to their holding the office of the society from the date of the judgment and order till the judgment and order in enforced and Ronnie D’Souza is admitted as member of the society, upon intimation to the office.
D’Souza had filed a complaint against the Society for not enforcing the order dated August 31, 2015 and committing violation of section 118 read with section 119 of the Co-operative Societies Act. He also stated that the Society had committed breach of the judgment by not admitting him as a member of the Society.
The then Assistant RCS P A Parab by an order dated August 31, 2015 had ordered the Society to process the application of D’Souza for membership and to admit him as a member of the Society thereby following the process of law within a period of two months from the receipt of the order with an intimation to the office.
