MARGAO: Thieves broke into the office of Costa Spirits at Fatorda and decamped with a locker containing cash of Rs 13 lakh on Wednesday night.
They gained entry by breaking the office’s back door and reportedly got the locker out of the building by throwing it from the first floor.
The office is located in Maria Julia complex near Nehru Stadium.
The incident came to light when the office staff arrived for work on Thursday morning.
Costa Spirits manager John Fernandes later filed a complaint with Margao police.
He initially believed that the safe contained only Rs 5 lakh, but was later informed that the amount was Rs 13 lakh.
Margao police investigated the site and called in a dog squad.
