A potter in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli has been stunned after receiving a GST notice demanding Rs 1.25 crore. Mohammad Saeed, a resident near Harchandpur, said he has never run a company and suspects his PAN and Aadhaar were misused to commit fraud. Saeed supports a family of five by selling earthen pots and kulhars, earning just Rs 10–20 per hundred. Years ago, he lost documents obtained to apply for a loan, which he believes were later exploited to create four fake companies in Patna. The first GST notice arrived months ago, but illiteracy prevented him from understanding it. Upon receiving another notice on February 15, the family realised the alleged tax liability. Saeed seeks justice and an official probe.
