MAPUSA: Unknown person/s stole silver worth Rs two lakh from a jewellery shop on the ground floor of Braganza Building, Mapusa.
However, the culprits could not lay their hands on the gold ornaments which were kept in a safe.
Mapusa Police said the owner of the jewellery shop 45-year-old Sidharth Ramesh Sangodkar, a resident of Mollembhat-Saligao in his complaint stated that the incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday wherein unknown person/s dug a hole in the rear wall of the shop and decamped with silver items worth Rs two lakh approximately.
Sources said the shop had CCTV installed inside. However, police could not find any footage of the incident as the owner had switched off the camera before closing the shop on Tuesday evening.
Mapusa Police have registered as case against unknown person/s under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC. Mapusa Police are investigating the case.
