PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that Rs 227 crore have been approved for Goa under various centrally sponsored schemes.

Sawant chaired the meeting to review the progress of detailed project report (DPR) by various departments to avail funds under centrally sponsored scheme. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Secretaries and Head of Departments.

Speaking to media persons post meeting, Sawant said that the State is working on seeking funds to the tune of Rs 943 crore for 70 more projects.

He said that the DPR of all 70 projects is ready; however, only 42 are sent to the Central government for approval, as of now.

“We have already received around Rs 227 crore for various schemes. We are hopeful that these 42 DPRs will also receive approval soon,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that being a small State, benefits of all the schemes are not extended to Goa.

Earlier this year, the State government had appointed Darashaw and Company as the consultant with the responsibility of preparing detailed project reports (DPRs) to secure funds from the Central government.
