Rs 25 cr grants for three railway stations in Goa

MARGAO: The Central Tourism Ministry has given Rs 25 crore grant for the development of infrastructure of the Margao, Tivim and Karmali railway stations.

MARGAO: The Central Tourism Ministry has given Rs 25 crore grant for the development of infrastructure of the Margao, Tivim and Karmali railway stations.
The DGM PRO of Konkan Railways Baban Ghatge informed on Friday that the money has already been granted and now the Konkan Railway would float tenders and start the work soon. 
Margao being one of the major junctions of Konkan Railway in Southern India has got Rs 13.38 crores of grant. Tivim railway station has got Rs 8.27 crore and Karmali station has got Rs 2.37 crore of infrastructure development grants. 
The works of infrastructure development would include passenger facilities such as parking spaces, beautification of the railway station surrounding areas and others. The KRC plans to change the face of the Railway Stations of Goa through this work. 
The Karmali Railway station will get an Astronomical Observatory from these funds. In addition to that the tourists coming to Karmali will also get to enjoy the flora, fauna and the birds at the Karmali lake.
