PANJIM: The government has levied a ‘consent fee’ of Rs 25000 for setting up mobile based station towers (MBST) in Goa and consent will have to be obtained from Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) to set up these towers. The consent will be valid for a period of five years.
The state government while coming out with stringent guidelines for installation of MBST has made it clear that the station would be shut down if found violating the permissible limit of electro-magnetic radiation (EMR). The government along with local bodies will be organizing public awareness programmes involving civil society members about MBST.
Tthe state government has framed site specific guidelines for installation of MBST in the state.
The telecom service providers (TSPs), while applying for the permission for setting up of a tower, will have to produce stability certificate for ground based tower, certificate for the building based tower from the authorized engineer of the state or local bodies or Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), empanelled by DoT.
The same have to be submitted to GSPCB periodically.
