Rs 28,000 stolen at Mapusa bank

Cash worth Rs 28,000 was stolen from a nationalized bank at Mapusa on Thursday morning.
In her complaint, the bank’s cashier Jayshree Lotlikar told Mapusa police that an unknown person of medium built and fair complexion came to the cash counter at about 11 am and dishonestly induced her to hand over a packet of Rs 1 lakh notes in the denomination of Rs 1,000.
After getting the packet, the accused began to search for a unique note with a promise to return the packet, but to the surprise of the cashier, she found that the accused stole 28 notes from the packet amounting to Rs 28,000.
The accused handed over the packet to her consisting of Rs 72,000. The cashier was shocked when she discovered that the accused disappeared from the cash counter.
Mapusa Police have registered a cheating case against an unknown person under Section 420 of IPC. PSI Nitin Halarnkar is investigating the case.
