PERNEM: The drugs recovered from the six Nigerians, arrested on Tuesday at Arambol, included ganja, cocaine, heroin, LSD and MDMA all worth Rs 4.40 lakh.
Police also seized a Santro car and an Activa scooter from the Nigerians.
When asked to identify the arrested Nigerians, Pernem police said that they are yet to ascertain their identities as they are not having any valid ID proof.
The accused persons have been booked under Sections 20 b(ii)(A), 22(b) and 22(c) r/w 29 of NDPS Act.
The accused were produced before a JMFC at Mapusa who remanded the Nigerians in police custody for five days.
Pernem police said that they would also book cases against the six Nigerians for not possessing valid ID proof and travel documents under FRRO Act.
On Tuesday, the locals of Girkarwada in Arambol had helped the police to nab a group of Nigerians with drugs on Tuesday. As per locals, a group of Nigerians, while sitting at a bar and restaurant in Girkarwada, allegedly disturbed the other customers by making noise. Therefore, the other customers asked the Nigerians to maintain calm. However, instead of maintaining calm, the group started arguing with the other customers and one of the Nigerians even allegedly assaulted a local Loyed D’Souza.
When police reached the spot, the people requested the police to check the vehicles of the Nigerians. And on checking, police found drugs in the dicky of one of the two-wheelers belonging to the Nigerians.
The team was headed by PI Harish Madkaikar consisting of PSI Alvito Rodriguez, PSI Praful Giri, PSI Aditya Gaonkar and Pernem police staff.
