PANJIM: Crime Branch late Tuesday confiscated Rs 43 lakh worth new denomination notes from Ponda.
It is learnt that a Police Inspector raided places on reliable information and seized Rs 43 in new denominations from one person in Ponda.
When contacted, Crime Branch Superintendent of Police Karthik Kashyap said that new currency of over Rs 40 lakh has been confiscated which will be handed over to Income Tax department for further course of action.
He refused to divulge any further details.
Sources, however, said that the raiding team did not keep senior officials informed and that the seized currency has not been stationed at Crime Branch .
