Police have seized Rs 1.05 crore in 24 hours with Tuesday night’s raid by Crime Branch confiscating Rs 35 lakh of Rs 2000 denomination notes in Ponda.
Crime Branch SP Karthik Kashyap, who is holding charge of SP North, said that the amount confiscated and the people detained under section 102 of CrPC are in the custody of the police. He said that I-T department and Directorate of Enforcement have been roped in for further investigations due to the huge sums involved.
Wednesday’s raid was based on reliable information where two of the boys had come to deliver the cash in exchange of old currency. Kashyap said that police are investigating the source of currency from where the boys have secured such huge denominations of new notes.
