Rs 73.50 lakh cash seized at KR station

MARGAO: Konkan Railway police on late Monday night arrested two persons from Sangli-Maharashtra after they found in their possession currency notes amounting to Rs 73.50 lakh.

MARGAO: Konkan Railway police on late Monday night arrested two persons from Sangli-Maharashtra after they found in their possession currency notes amounting to Rs 73.50 lakh. 
The duo was arrested from the Margao railway station while they were waiting for the train to head to Maharashtra.
Konkan Railway police station in-charge PI Santosh Desai said the duo had come to Margao from Calicut-Kerala and were heading to Maharashtra with the cash. He said the cash has been seized by the police and the matter will be reported to the Income Tax department for further investigation.
The duo was later released on bail by a local court. However, the cash is in the custody of the Konkan Railway police.
PI Santosh informed that preliminary investigations have revealed that the tow were involved in gold transactions and were returning home with the amount.
