RSS has to accept that it supports English medium, says FORCE

Charges that anti-English MoI agitation is against Bahuhjan Samaj and lower strata of the society; asks political parties to clarify their stand on the issue

MARGAO: The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh has opened several English medium schools in the country and they have to accept that their organisation is supporting the English medium, FORCE convener Savio Lopes said on Monday.
Addressing the media, he produced the copy of an article which was published in a magazine which mentioned various statements of Central RSS leaders on reportedly supporting English medium schools and accepting the language.
“FORCE concludes that the entire agitation against Medium of Instruction (MoI) is against the Bahuhjan Samaj and the lower strata of the society because they don’t have any problem with English and with private schools but have problems with aided schools and the beneficiaries of aided schools is Bahujan Samaj,” alleged Lopes.
Backing the statement, Lopes reminded that the government had assured verbally and also in writing but the bill wasn’t passed. “The BJP manifesto had claimed that there will be an amicable solution but there is none till date,” Lopes said.
“We are putting all political parties on notice to clarify in this election whether they will withdraw the grants, or give grants only to Konkani Marathi schools and whether English schools will close down,” Lopes said. “Let the people decide as they will also decide on the next government,” he added.
“A few political parties are making statements that MoI is not a big issue as people have not raised it. On the contrary, the issue was raised long ago and the issue will have an impact in the upcoming elections,” he added.
“Be it be Congress, BJP, AAP or any other party, please take a stand as parents are watching you,” he appealed.
FORCE has re-entered the arena and has resolved to decide their future course of action in the issue. FORCE has planned to meet parents in the coming days and will increase the number of general body meetings. “We have to stay united and all we want is the bill to be passed,” Lopes said.
