CB issues look out notice for 2 accused

PANJIM: In connection with the recent assault on an RTI activist in Sancoale, the Crime Branch (CB) that is handling the case has issued a look out notice for two accused persons, who are presently absconding.

 It may be recalled that the Verna Police had already arrested one of the accused persons, Ram Gopal Yadav alias Kariya, for his role in the assault of Narayan Datta Naik, outside the Sancoale Panchayat. 

Sources have also said that Kariya had revealed the names of those who are involved directly or indirectly in the assault case. 

 The case was thereafter transferred to the CB. The Chief Minister has also assured that the efforts are underway to nab all the accused persons. 

While as part of the investigations, the statements of various persons, including that of Sancoale Panchayat staff and others has been recorded, the two absconding accused, who carried out the attack on Naik had been identified but their present whereabouts are still unknown. 

In this regard, the Crime Branch on Monday shared the pictures, residential address and other details of these two accused persons.

“Look out for the above persons of above description and if traced to detain and inform PI, Crime Branch, Ribandar on 08322444888 and mobile number 7875756173 for taking further action in the matter,” said PI Karpe.

Sources added that a mobile phone was recovered from the site of the assault, that was later traced to one of the aforementioned accused and history sheeter Ismail Shaikh. Ismail and Khalil Shaikh were allegedly hired to carry out the assault.
