MARGAO: Heated arguments were witnessed at the Rumdamol-Davorlim gram sabha over the allegations that illegal activities were carried out in a Madrasa situated in the village.
The gram sabha members along with panchayat member Vinayak Volvoikar complained that illegal activities were carried out in the Madrasa and demanded immediate action against it.
But the Madrasa operators, one Riyaz denied the allegations and claimed that he was conducting tuitions and coaching classes for students belonging to minority communities. He also added that he conducted summer camp for children during vacation.
Riyaz complained that the NOC issued by the village panchayat was revoked even as they have reapplied for the same. The matter has now been referred to the Salcete Block Development Officer (BDO) for appropriate decision.
