Margao: Two Rumdamol-Davorlim residents allegedly assaulted another local over a football match at the Rumdamol football ground on Wednesday.
Maina-Curtorim police received a complaint from Taushif Ali Shaikh (23), a resident of Rumdamol Housing Board, that the accused Mohammad Jafar and Irfan pushed and abused him after the referee gave a red card during a football match.
He also accused Jafar of assaulting him on the forehead, thereby causing him grievous injuries.
Maina-Curtorim Police have registered offences against the duo under Sections 325, 323, 504 r/w 34 of IPC.
Further investigation is in progress.
