Russian rape victim summoned

The South Goa Sessions court has summoned the Russian rape victim woman for examination in the rape case.
The court issued the summons after the Public prosecutor, Bhanudas Gaonkar filed an application to summon the victim complainant for examination in the case.
This is the first time that the prosecution has called for the examination of the victim since the trial commenced three days ago. The prosecution had earlier listed a total of 18 witnesses for examination, of which summons issued to some have returned back saying they are not found at the place of residence.
The prosecution had maintained that they have not listed the complainant victim in the first list of witnesses on grounds that they were yet to receive the expert report from the central Forensic laboratory.
The Sessions court is conducting the trial on a day-to-day basis as accused John Fernandes, has been languishing in jail without trial for over six months now.
The court is believed to have so far examined three witnesses listed by the prosecution.
