MARGAO: The two Russian women, who had complained of rape and molestation, in South Goa have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused person in connection with the incident.
Addressing the media, the duo pointed out that the investigations into the rape case registered at the Colva police against the accused person have come to a standstill after the transfer of PSI Manguesh Volvoikar from the police station. “PSI Manguesh had taken keen interest in the case and had started investigations upon registering the case. Sadly, investigations into the case have come to a standstill after his transfer”, the victim said, while demanding that the PSI be brought back to Colva police to investigated the rape case.
The victim also said that the accused person cheated her of 5500 US dollars by luring her with a business opportunity.
Replying to a question, the duo said they had taken up the issue with the Russian consulate to take up the issue with the Goa government to arrest the accused and expedite investigations into both the rape and molestation cases registered at the Colva and Quepem police stations respectively.
Bailancho Evkott President Auda Viegas said the government should come out with an advisory for foreign visitors, especially women, not to trust somebody before they consult their consulate on business matters.
“Many outsiders are setting up business here in Goa and they are even found to be cheating gullible foreigners on the net. There’s no one to monitor their mode of business and transactions”, she added.
Viegas said that she has instances wherein foreigners have constructed houses along the coast and sold them out to Indians. “We don’t monitor what’s happening in Goa. The government should intervene”, she said, while demanding immediate action by the Colva police against the accused named in the alleged rape incident.
