PANJIM: The Bailancho Saad is anguished and angered over the horrific sexual violence in Manipur, where women were paraded naked, molested by Meities men to show supremacy and power over vulnerable minority Kuki community.
“Bailancho Saad expressed solidarity with the Kuki women and share their personal pain, many of whom are based in Goa. We send you red mountain lilies symbolising love and courage,” said its convenor Sabina Martins.
The Bailancho Saad stands firmly behind all survivors of violence fighting for justice in the state and country, she said.
While stating that PM Modi kept silent on the issue for 78 days, travelled abroad and “kept enjoying his image building exercise while the tribal state back home burned and wailed”, Martins said “only when the video went viral and dented his image, a statement was made”.
This unprincipled electoral politics has pitted one community against the other to consolidate majority votes creating communal divide to stay in power, control public money and natural resources.
