VASCO: Irked over the raw sewage overflowing onto the road and into the stormwater drains at Sada, the locals have demanded that the concerned authorities solve the problem on an urgent basis.
They complained that for several days the sewage overflowing from the manhole has caused the area to stink.
PWD Assistant Engineer (sewerage section) Thomas Landez said, “We are trying to ascertain the exact cause and will rectify it as early as possible”.
“People have not informed us about the overflowing raw sewage. It could be due to the choked sewage pipeline”, he added.
Landez said, “This mostly happens during monsoon on account of the less depth of the manhole as the rainwater enters the lines. Further, the manhole cannot sustain the load which leads to overflowing.”
Ward councillor Damodar Naik said he had already engaged some of his labourers to check the overflow and promised to get it rectified in two days.
