CUNCOLIM: The Sadhana Multipurpose Cooperative Society, which wants to get into mining business, has finally been registered under ‘Resource Society’ category by the registrar of cooperative societies.
Cavrem villagers and anti-mining activist Ravindra Velip has applied for registration of Sadhana Multipurpose Cooperative Society under societies registration law. Velip is also the promoter of the society.
Authorities had rejected their application and proposal on ground that they cannot register a society under resource category.
The villagers had challenged the decision of registrar in court which had issued directions to registrar to register the society.
Finally, after 34 months’ battle, the villagers of Cavrem got their society formally registered.
Sadhana Multipurpose Cooperative Society wants to enter into mining related business like taking mining leases, operating mining leases, employing resources and equipment, transportation, processing, beneficiation use, sale and exportation of ore
