PANJIM: The two-day extensive multi-agency security exercise off State’s coast ‘Sagar Kavach’ began Tuesday with two teams ~ Red and Green forces, conducting the security exercise for better surveillance along the coastal stretch. The security drill is the first to be conducted this year.
Security officials, posing as terrorists were intercepted by the on-duty officials while infiltrating vital installations. Similarly, fake bombs planted around eights locations in north Goa district were ‘defused’ by the Bomb Disposal Squad. The dummy terrorists – from the Red Force – were released only after disclosing their codes to the Green Force, allotted by the participating teams.
The mock drill jointly organized by the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Goa police, Fisheries, MPT and the Captain of Ports department among other agencies will conclude on Wednesday.
Sources said the entire exercise’s analysis and areas for improvement will be discussed at a meeting, which will be attended by representatives of each of the agencies.
