PANJIM: Goa Police on Wednesday
met with hoteliers and vital installation security in charges in view of the
Sagar Kawach exercise scheduled on Thursday and Friday.
They were briefed of the
importance of the exercise and instructed to be vigilant and direct their
security officials to be extra alert during the peak tourist season.
North Goa SP Umesh Gaonkar, who
chaired the meeting, said it was an attempt to make the people aware that their
participation was necessary to safeguard the State.
The objective of the exercise is
to provide seamless seaward cover along the coast. It will also assess the
effectiveness of the fishing community in serving as ‘eyes and ears’ for early
warning of a seaward threat.
