NAVELIM: The feast of Saint Pio will be celebrated on September 23 at Padre Pio Shrine, Modi in Navelim. The novenas have already started and the daily novena Mass is at 5 pm.
On the feast day, Masses will be at 6.30 am, 8.30 am and 5 pm (High Mass). Fr Waldheim will be the main celebrant for the high Mass. Padre Pio was canonized as saint in Rome on June 16.
Padre Pio belonged to the Capuchin congregation. Padre Pio had the stigmata and he used used to celebrate the Eucharist with great fervour and devotion. His tomb is at San Giovanni in Italy. In Goa, his shrine is located at Moddi-Navelim.
Fr Nelson Lobo was earlier guardian of this shrine and with other priests and parishioners renovated this shrine.
