SAL: For the last two days the village of Sal has been deprived of water scarcity with the village’s very famous Gade Utsav festival all set to begin from March 7. Before the festival, most of the villagers clean up their houses and utensils but due to the water shortage, people, especially the housewives are helpless.
The meeting which was held at Shri Bhumika Temple’s hall was presided over by MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye in the presence of the officials of the departments concerned. The locals had raised the question of water scarcity frequently faced by the villagers and the MLA had assured to resolve the matter on priority.
Sal is provided with water from two water treatment plants; Padocem and Adval-Asnoda. However, the women were agitated as the supply from both sides was cut-off for the last two days. The water supplied from a tank at Menkure slowed down after 10 am and was completely stopped by the end of the day on Sunday. The water pipeline from Padocem plant suffered a crack depriving the entire village of water.
“CM Pramod Sawant, MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye and ZP member Sanjay Shetye need to look into the matter and restore the water supply not just for now, but also for the future,” said one of the local women.
