MARGAO: Following the strong opposition to the construction of a petrol pump in Dicarpale village, the Salcete Block Development Officer (BDO) issued a show-cause cum stop work order to the proprietors of the project.
On Wednesday, there was yet another protest against the construction.
Here the locals along with Velim MLA Cruz Silva, revealed information they received under the RTI Act, which showed that the project has been denied permission from the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department.
They further pointed out that the Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat had only given a provisional NOC, wherein the approval from TCP was required before giving a final NOC and
that the said provisional NOC did not mention
anything about allowing construction.
Locals had earlier raised this issue during the gram sabha last month that had turned stormy, after a
request from the locals to the panchayat to issue a stop-work order was not entertained.
