MARGAO: After functioning from a dilapidated office over the last several years, the Salcete Block Development office has finally moved into the new District Collectorate building from Monday. All the sections attached to the BDO office have been shifted to the new premises housed on the second floor of the new building. Salcete BDO Manuel Barretto said the shifting of the BDO office has been done in the north east block of the Collectorate building facing the Nehru stadium.
“All sections, including RDA, social welfare, statistics, engineering, NREGS have been accommodated in one block. The staff can be seen working together in one big block. I am sure the public too will not face any problem,” he said.
While thanking the government for providing a better place for the Salcete Block Development office, Barretto said that the new premises can be accessed from the North eastern side using lifts.
The Salcete BDO office had been functioning from the ground floor of the Directorate of Education at Old Market over the last several years. Despite the long-pending demand to house the office in spacious premises, successive governments had ignored the genuine demand.
