MARGAO: Salcete residents were left frustrated after receiving yet another notice that there would be no water supply for two days due to maintenance of the Salaulim water treatment plant. This was accompanied by extremely long periods of no power supply and fluctuations across the taluka.
Sources stated that the power outage and fluctuations could be experienced in Sanguem and Quepem, and that it had compounded the problem at the Salaulim water treatment plant.
Residents were upset as they could not operate their water pumps in time to ensure that their tanks were full.
Residents of Fatorda, Benaulim, Navelim and Curtorim have complained to the PWD and Electricity Department about the water shortage and power outage in the last two days. There have also been complaints of the voltage fluctuating drastically and electronic equipment being damaged by power surges.
PWD officials have stated that the water supply to Salcete, Quepem and Mormugao will continue to be restricted on April 17.
