MARGAO: The Salcete Taluka, which consists of five police stations have booked 1805 cases in the first six months under the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 1996 that prohibits disposal of garbage in public places, drains and sewage.
Salcete police collected fines of Rs 1, 80,500, said one police officer associated with the drive.
Out of 1805 cases, the Margao police booked 334 cases and collected a fine of Rs 33,400 while Maina-Curtorim police booked 363 and collected Rs 36,300 as a fine.
Colva police booked 211 and collected Rs 21,100, Cuncolim police booked 515 and collected
Rs 51,500 and Fatorda police booked 382 cases and collected Rs 38,200.
