PANJIM: The government has prohibited the sale of liquor by all licensed premises for the sale of liquor located within limits of the Village Panchayat of Se Old Goa and further directs that such licensed premises shall be closed for 4 days with effect from November 30 to December 3, in view of the last three days of novenas and feast day of St Francis Xavier.
The licensed premises having licence for ‘Bar and Restaurant’ may be allowed to keep the restaurant open for serving food only. However, the bar counter shall be closed and no liquor shall be allowed to be served on the said days.
The owners of the licensed premises having bar and restaurant shall also display a notice in the premises that no liquor will be served and that the restaurant will be open for serving food only.
Many feel that this order could douse the festive spirit of the festival.
