CALANGUTE: The Saligao gram sabha on Sunday deliberated on the issue of setting up garbage treatment plant at Saligao/Calangute plateau.
A gram sabha member questioned why the sarpanch or Saligao Panchayat failed to intimate the villagers over Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s visit to clarify on the proposed plant at Saligao. Replying to the member, Sarpanch Eknath Oraskar said he had informed the clubs and other institutions over chief minister’s visit to Saligao.
Oraskar however agreed to discuss the issue at length after his scheduled visit to Germany as part of the delegation.
Oraskar urged the members to raise issues concerning the village.
However, when a gram sabha member raised a query pertaining to the shops, etc, in the newly constructed market complex, Oraskar refused to divulge the details and instead asked the member to make a written submission for reply.
Diago Fernandes questioned the delay to provide him the inspection report. “I visited the panchayat office to meet the secretary at least five times, but the secretary seems not in place. I am yet to get a copy of the site inspection report for the inspection carried out by the panchayat secretary in April 2013”.
Sarpanch Oraskar asked Fernandes to seek the information under RTI, which was objected by the member as the matter pertained to the site inspection involving the member. The sarpanch then assured to provide the inspection report to the member.
Other issues were also discussed and at the gram sabha.
