Samples to be sent by special flight to Pune lab

With Dabolim international airport suspending all domestic flights, as per directions from the Central government, the blood samples of suspected Coronavirus cases in Goa, will be sent to the Pune laboratory for testing through a special flight on Wednesday. 

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant told media persons that due to the suspension of domestic flights, the State Health Department was unable to send the blood samples of seven suspected persons to Pune for checking. 

“We made a request to Union Minister for Ayush to provide a special flight and accordingly the arrangement has been made,” he said. 

Along with the samples, a team of four doctors will be also flying to Pune, for training on the virology lab, which will be set up in Goa soon, the Chief Minister said. 

Meanwhile, Sawant has urged people not to visit temples on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, to be celebrated on Wednesday, nor to undertake any religious festivities.
