VASCO:  The Kala Bhavan in Sancoale is likely to get completed within four months time. Due to financial constraints, the work came to standstill, but the Chief Minister has assured to provide funds for this project, said Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha.

On Monday, during a press conference, the Cortalim MLA said that the Kala Bhavan project, which is yet to see the light of the day, was started way back in the year 2007, when the previous MLA Mauvin Godinho, was in power in the Congress government.

“Later, when I became the MLA of Cortalim Constituency, during my first visit in 2014 noticed that considerable work of the Bhavan is incomplete with no electrification, acoustics, air conditioning, furniture etc.,” she said.

She further mentioned that then Chief Minister impressed upon her that much money has been already spent on the project and if the projects completes then it will benefit the Cortalim Constituency.

“Therefore, I took up the project. But sadly there were several issues between the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) and the Art and Culture Department with regards to completion and handing over this project.  GSIDC was told by Art and Culture Department to complete the project and hand it over to them. After much follow up in last year in mid April, GSIDC issued the work order for completion of this project at a cost of Rs 19 crore,” she added.
