VASCO: A hut belonging to one Mohammad Mainuddin (23), a resident of Sancoale, was set on fire after drenching it with kerosene, on Friday.
In his complaint to Verna police, Mainuddin said that one Chandrashekhar Singh, his brother Chandrabhan alias Bablu, Vinod and 10 others set his dwelling hut on fire after drenching it with kerosene. The loss incurred in the incident is around Rs 8,50,000.
Mainuddin also complained that he was assaulted and threatened with dire consequences by the accused. The assault and arson was the fall out of personal enmity and property dispute between the victim and the accused.
Verna police have arrested a person in this connection; and registered an offence under Section 143, 323, 436, 427, 506(ii) r/w 149 of IPC. Verna PI Sandesh Chodankar is investigating the crime.
