CORTALIM: The Sancoale gram sabha on Sunday decided to appoint a Chartered Accountant to look into the financial irregularities and to suggest ways and means for recovery. It also appointed three villagers to help the CA in carrying out the task.
The members came down heavily on the panchayat for not having implemented the resolutions passed at the previous gram sabha.
“What has happened to the recovery of house tax arrears from the corporate houses and reassessing the house tax and octroi? asked Narayan D Naik.
Naik also accused the panchayat of helping the builders even to the extent of ignoring gross irregularities. He gave an instance where the builder had all permissions although the survey records were still in the name of the original owners.
“If it was for a lay person, the panchayat would have asked for mutation of survey records in the name of the applicant,” Naik said adding the he would ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
Naik who was instrumental in filing of FIR against former sarpanch Ramakant Borkar who is now on the run, after producing a video clip to the ACB, said he had an audio clip to prove that Rs 50 lakh were paid by a private school in Dabolim and that they would be exposed.
Former sarpanch Premanand Naik brought to the notice of the sarpanch that the contractor collecting waste was dumping it in the water bodies. He also claimed that the PWD contractors were still forced to pay commission to a panchayat ‘agent.’
Giving a patient hearing, Sarpanch Sharan Meti who took over from Borkar said he will ensure that the gram sabha resolutions are implemented and where necessary police complaints would be filed.
