Sancoale to have own biodigester, MRF unit by next week: Sarpanch

VASCO: The Sancoale panchayat will have its own biodigester and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) operational by next week.

Speaking to the media, Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar said, “The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) unit has been set up especially for Sancoale panchayat area. By having this facility, the dry waste from within our jurisdictions will be collected and baled here and disposed off later.”

“We are waiting for the access road to be tarred and once it is done, we are likely to inaugurate this unit at the hands of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho next week,” he added.

Furthermore commenting on the biodigester unit, Borkar said, “The biodigester of 3000 litre capacity will also be set up. Now by having a MRF and high capacity biodigester unit, our aim is to cater to the entire Sancoale area in terms of treating wet and dry waste thereby making Sancoale waste free.”

He also warned that once these units are made operational everyone will be given intimation not to litter waste outside and the violators will be fined heavily.

Borkar also informed that there are plans to set up surveillance cameras on important spots where the people are found dumping waste.

These cameras will also help in preventing thefts, open defecations etc. In the near future we will also appoint one security guard at this MRF unit for its safety.
