PANJIM: In the first political arrest in the land grab scam, former Socorro sarpanch and TMC’s Porvorim Assembly candidate Sandeep Vazarkar has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the land grab cases.
According to the complaint filed by Purshottam Agarwal, Vazarkar induced him into purchasing a property in Sangolda village, Bardez and to that effect carried out forgery of documents, fraudulent monetary transactions towards the sale and transferred the legal rights in his name.
Vazarkar has allegedly entered into a fraud agreement of sale with the complainant and his wife, Laxmi Agarwal. He allegedly charged the couple an amount of Rs 27 lakhs for the dealings, through various transactions.
On receiving the complaint, Vazarkar was asked to appear for questioning. During the course of the investigation, the Crime Branch arrested him and the case has been transferred to the SIT for further investigation.
