Sanguem-Curchorem road turns death trap amidst unending digging for sewerage network

SANGUEM: The road connecting Sanguem to Curchorem has become a perilous route, transformed into a literal death trap due to ongoing sewerage network construction that has persisted for the past year.

The thoroughfare is riddled with multiple excavation sites, rendering any semblance of a road non-existent for those traveling from Curchorem to Sanguem. Motorists are forced to navigate over dug trenches or through rubble and mud scattered along the way.

The situation is exacerbated on the main road linking the two cities up to Cacora, where, on one side, the road is continuously excavated for pipe installation, while the other side presents challenges with frequent manholes. Despite an alternative route via Mahadev temple, it also poses risks to users as it has undergone various diggings.

With limited options, two-wheeler riders resort to maneuvering on the wrong side of the road to circumvent obstacles caused by the ongoing construction, putting their lives at risk of accidents with oncoming vehicles.

The seemingly unending construction has caused significant distress to the public, with uncertainty about when the work will conclude, allowing the road to become motorable again.
