SANGUEM: Strong doubts are raised over the sudden death of a 12-year-old girl at Bendwada in Sanguem in the early morning hours of August 27.
Sources informed that the girl Kajol Pappu Yadav a class sixth student of Miracles High School Sanguem had gone for Ganesh immersion ceremony with one of her friend and had returned back home at about 1.00 pm.
On returning home, Kajol who was otherwise sleeping in an adjoining room, pleaded with her mother to allow her to sleep with her and also reportedly demanded her mother’s mobile to play games before falling asleep.
However, at about 4 am Kajol is reported to have complained of chest pain and soon thereafter froth is reported to have started coming out from her nose and mouth. Kajol’s mother claims that the girl died at about 4.30 in the morning.
Incidentally, the death of Kajol was kept under wraps for a long time and the police were informed about it only at about 10 in the morning, informed sources.
While police have reportedly given the version of there being possibility of food poisoning in the incident, locals have demanded a thorough investigation in the matter and have raised several questions over the death of Kajol after some marks were noted around her neck.
Questions are also raised as to the persons who approached doctors for a medical certificate over the death of Kajol before the matter was reported to the police.
Sources informed that Kajol’s father since the closure of Aparant Iron and Steel Factory at Costi Sanguem is working in the neighbouring Karnataka State and used to come home once in a month.
Unconfirmed sources claim that since the past many days an unknown person was moving suspiciously on the road near the rented premise of Yadav family. Residents in the locality have called for a detailed investigation in the matter as no other person in the locality has complained of food poisoning as of date.
Immediately, after hearing the news of the death of Kajol, Headmaster of Miracles High School Fr Anthony Melvin Fernandes rushed to the house of Kajol to pay last tributes to the departed soul. Fr Fernandes informed that Kajol was a brilliant and hard working student. “With the tragic death of Kajol, we lost a brilliant student,” informed Fr Fernandes.
PSI Ramchandra Naik conducted the panchanama and sent the body for post mortem at Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
Further investigation is on, informed police sources.
Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar and Chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council Suryadatt Naik also visited the deceased family members.
