SANGUEM: In contrast to the three-day partial lockdown announced by the Government, the Sanguem Merchants Association has resolved to observe total shutdown in the town area except opening for two hours, 6.00am to 8.00 am, to sell milk, bread and vegetable.
The decision to close down all business establishments in the town area was taken during a meeting called by Deputy Collector Sanguem Sagar Gaude and attended by mamlatdar of Sanguem Manoj Korgaonkar, Police Inspector Sachin Panelkar, president of Sanguem Market Association Raju Dessai, Health Officer Sanguem PHC Seema Fondekar among others.
Deputy Collector explained the details and precautions to be followed for the three-day lockdown announced by the Government. However the association reasoned that the partial lockdown declared by the Government would serve no purpose in controlling the virus and informed the authorities that they would follow complete lockdown for the next three days in Sanguem.
Association President Raju Dessai however informed that shops dealing with milk, sale of bread and vegetables will be kept open for a brief period of two hours in the morning session from 6.00 am to 8.00 am after which all shops and establishments will remain closed for three days.
Dessai informed that in last couple of days, some shop owners in the market area are affected with COVID virus they assume that it would affect more people. “As a precautionary measure we have decided to observe total bandh in Sanguem market,” said Dessai.
