SANGUEM: Replying to the representation from Sanguem sugarcane cultivators, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlelar has assured to solve their problems at the earliest after consulting with the Chief Minister.

Kavlekar assured the farmers’ delegation to come out with a concrete solution in the best interest of sugarcane farmers.

“Ever since the issue of Sanjivani sugar factory has come to haunt the farmers, I have rallied behind the sugarcane cultivators and will continue to rally behind them”, informed Kavlelar.

When the farmers raised the issue of delayed payments of sugarcane supplied to the sugarcane factory, I personally spoke to the Chief Minister and got the payment released just before Ganesh Chaturthi, claimed Kavlekar while further adding that the balance amount which is left unpaid as of now towards harvesting charges will be paid soon.

Kavlekar also assured to pay due compensation to the 89 farmers who could not harvest their plantation in the last season for want of labour and as Laila Factory in Kolhapur had closed down its operations.

Kavlekar informed that he will personally peruse the matter with the Chief Minister to seek an early recourse in the matter concerning sugarcane farmers.

Francisco Mascarenhas who led the delegation to the Deputy Chief Minister informed that they expect a positive reply from the Government with respect to issues faced by them. Mascarenhas also informed that they also had a telephonic conversation with the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who assured them of a personal hearing soon after the expiry of his quarantine period which is set to expire on September 12.
