SANGUEM: The truck owners from Sanguem and Uguem on Friday urged for due intervention of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for immediate commencement of transport operations of e-auctioned iron ore from Tolem Mines in Sanguem Taluka, which is delayed allegedly on account of political factors.

Sources in the know informed that the transport operations were scheduled to start early last week but were allegedly held up after a villager who claim proprietary right to the property through which the transport was to be made dug a trench thereby keeping on hold the transportation activity of the e-auctioned ore from Tolem mines, which is allocated to Sesa Group of Companies.
Subsequently, the contractor allocated with the transport contract who otherwise is a well known political figure made concerted efforts in getting the transport started but alleged involvement of a local politician who is allegedly not happy with the allocation of transport contract to the people from outside Sanguem Constituency nullified all efforts made by the contractor in getting the transportation activity started.
Over the last couple of days, a lot of political movement is reportedly witnessed at Tolem mines and at the Sanguem Police Station in getting the issue settled but to no avail. And this has ultimately affected the business operations of over 100 truckers from Sanguem and Uguem, who were eagerly waiting for the transport operations to begin.
President of Sanguem Truck Owners Association Sanjay Parwar bitterly decried the ongoing situation at Tolem mines which he claimed to have been politically motivated.
Parwar informed that after the news of the transportation to commence from Tolem mines spread in the locale, the truck owners spend considerable amount of money in putting the idle trucks into shape and also paid the prescribed taxes to the government to get the trucks on the road.
