Sanguem villagers long wait for water as pumping disrupted since last five days

SANGUEM: The villagers of Villian, Bombdimoll and Kumari wards of Bhati village panchayat in Sanguem continue to long for regulated drinking water supply due to the stoppage of pumping operations from the village borewell since past five days.

Failing to install a fourth pump to get the borewell operational, water supply department have made provisions to supply drinking water to the villagers through water tankers.

For other domestic chores, the villagers had to get water from the nearby river or wells located about a kilometre away from the village.

One of the villagers, Anil Kakodkar informed that efforts to provide water from the alternate source were unviable since the water was muddy and not potable.

Kakodkar informed that with no solution in sight and department taking the villagers for granted, a group of villagers have now planned to visit the office of the water supply department on Tuesday, January 17 morning.

“We will enquire about the government plan for regulating drinking water supply in the village. We will also find out the time they will take to resolve the issue, failing which the villagers will stage an agitation in front of the water supply department,” Kakodkar said.
