Sanguem women want assault accused arrested

SANGUEM:  A group of women from Sanguem town have demanded that the local police arrest the person holding Portuguese nationality immediately for allegedly assaulting one Casmira Dias, a resident of Khairikantem at her residence recently.

Addressing a press conference, Casmira charged that the individual entered her house and attacked her with a wooden stick. 

She alleged that  person molested her after she fell on the ground and continued assaulting her.

She further charged that the wife of the accused also hurled abuses at her. However despite filing a complaint, the Sanguem Police failed to arrest the husband-wife duo much to the chagrin of the local women.

According to available information, the incident took place on Sunday (November 22). 

The group of women accused the police of having failed to make any arrest but gave sufficient time to the husband-wife duo to apply for anticipatory bail.

Sanguem Police booked the duo under Sections 324, 504, 354 and 506(i) of the IPC but claimed that they could not arrest the duo without court orders and the accused is a senior citizen.
