MARGAO, APRIL 8
The men-in-uniform putting up at the Margao police headquarters have nothing to cheer about.
For, sanitation has hit a low as the dirty toilets have made life miserable for the police constables occupying the barracks.
A visit to the headquarters revealed the pathetic state of affairs of the toilets attached to the barracks.
The police constable complained that the toilets do not even have doors, while the irregular water supply has only compounded the problems for the constabulary.
While the existing personnel have to literally contend with the facilities, the wonder how the newly posted personnel at the district headquarters will be accommodated in such horrible conditions.
The police barracks had hit the headlines following water seepage in the barracks, prompting Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat to take a round of the headquarters.
While the government has completed the work of roofing to prevent water leakages, the police personnel are hoping against hope for a turn around in the toilet facilities.
