The agitation by Sanjivani farmers reached a turning point as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant pledged to reopen the factory by the upcoming year. Sawant confirmed that a tender for the redevelopment of the Sugar factory on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis would be released shortly. Sawant further informed that the government has been providing compensation to these farmers for the last three years and they will receive their compensation for the remaining two years. There is no need for them to worry and they should stop staging protests to show-off.
In response to the escalated agitation by Sugarcane farmers, the Goa government has officially launched the tender process for the redevelopment of the Sanjeevani Sugar factory under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. The Directorate of Agriculture (DoA) has initiated the tender for the redevelopment of the existing Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, coupled with plans to establish an Ethanol production plant under the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model.
The Goa government has invited Request for Qualification (RFQ) applications through the eProcurement System, accessible at https://eprocure.goa.gov.in/nicgep/app. Interested parties can download the RFQ document starting from January 10, 2024, with the deadline for submission of online applications set for March 1, 2024.
