Sanjivani workers hold meet, discuss VRS proposal

PONDA: A meeting was held on Monday at the premises of Sanjivani Sugar Factory, to address the issues faced by the employees of the factory, as well as discussing the proposed Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) for employees by the end of September.

During the meeting, Union Leader Christopher Fonseca expressed his opinion on the VRS scheme, stating, “The government should refrain from offering VRS to employees and instead provide them with employment opportunities.” He further advocated for a six-month extension in the contracts of the 79 workers employed on a contractual basis.

Another important topic discussed in the meeting was the collection of detailed information about the factory’s employees.
