PONDA: Sanjivani Sugar Factory workers on Saturday complained of not getting their salary for two months and threatened to go on strike from September 1 for not resolving their pending demands.
The workers said that they had requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to resolve their salary issue and pending demands before Ganesh Chaturthi.
The workers also alleged that the present administrator is harassing them.
They demanded with the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister to look into the matter of the confirmed workers as early as possible because most of them are fully depended on monthly salary. Due to non-payment of salary, most of the workers’ loan installments are pending and have received letters from the banks for loan due.
“Till date all the government-appointed administrator s have given us the salary, ex-gratia and other facilities on time but the present administrator is not following with the ex-gratia and salary files, which is sanctioned by the Finance Department. The administrator is also not cooperating with us and behaving like the sugar factory is his own property,” complained the confirmed workers.
There around 107 confirmed employees in Sanjivani of which 70 staff have done COVID-19 duty in various government hospitals as instructed by South Goa District Collector. Some are relived and some are still doing COVID-19 duty.
